The last remaining recordings of The Mystic Revelation of Rastafari were smuggled onto a space probe by the Nyabinghi Order before they were banished forever to a prison on Mars. The probe continues its search for the planet Kete, from where it knows the sacred sounds contained within can be broadcast across the galaxy...

I composed this for a trailer for The Day The Earth Stood Still from 1951, to be used for a series of nineteen fifties sci-fi screenings at an art house cinema. The cinema wanted the new trailer to capture the attention of a contemporary audience with a blend of classic sci-fi and modern sounds.

Tribal Global - Cut Stone. Composed by Kieran C Murray for Facebook Sound Collection
I wrote and recorded this music for Facebook’s Creator Studio Sound Collection. Inspired by this beautiful film footage of Scotland, it explores my native Celtic musical heritage. It begins with a slow air building with bodhráns, bazouki and acoustic guitar towards a contemporary Scottish folk melody and reel played on fiddle, uilleann bagpipes and whistles, accompanied by contemporary rhythm section. Evocative of landscape and location, the rhythmic fusion places it in a modern multi-cultural Scotland.
It features top ranking Scottish musicians; Marc Duff (Capercaillie, BBC Scottish Symphony, Rob Roy Soundtrack) on uilleann bagpipes, whistles and bazouki, Charlie McKerron (Capercaillie), yours truly on bass, guitars and keyboards, Joined from California with Paul Gonzales (Dig Infinity, Kollektivo) on drums and percussions.

For this piece I was given permission by the filmmaker Anlo Sepulveda to score alternative music for the opening sequence of the film Yakona. I was fascinated by the juxtaposition of space, time, landscape and water.
Requiem For Bees - Music & Sound Design by Kieran C Murray
This piece comprises music and sound design composed for the short film Blue Honey that was provided for a film-scoring contest. The soundtrack features elements of European and Brazilian folk culture.
A wayward bee discovers some blue liquid which all the other worker bees end up bringing to the hive with the queen’s permission, the bees appear to become intoxicated which leads ultimately to the death of all the bees :-(

Logwood Dub 1913 - Composed by Kieran C Murray
I found this footage of Jamaica from 1913. In composing music for it I decided on anchoring it culturally to Jamaica with the use of a heavy rockers reggae style bass and drums, simple string melodies floating over the top, changing as the scenes change - almost disconnected and foreign to the rhythm section.
